Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

Welldone Prashreet !

February 23, 2009 by satyakura

CPN-UML leader and noted litterateur Modanath Prashit announced to retire from the active political life on Monday. He had long been active in the communist movement of Nepal . He made the announcement to be away from the political life by organizing a press conference . Sixty-seven-year-old Prashit said he would spend rest of his life on literature, culture and history. He had been active in the communist movement since 1968 AD. Really Prashreet, you had better write socio-cultural writeups more and more. It is praiseworthy that you have made room for the creative youths. When will the oldies of Neplali politics learn this lesson ?

His village is waiting for him

February 15, 2009 by satyakura

BY BRABIM KUMAR KC
It has been almost more than a year that we haven’t met each other; I always had a very positive impression about him. A creative guy, an enthusiastic youth leader and a social entrepreneur, Last time when I was at his village, he had shown many things that he and his team has done in their village. They had started a small library without any support from donor organization. They had a small saving group where they used to save some amount of money every week. They had formed a youth group to protect their community forest and already started plantation of some herbs. Everything was so appreciating. I hadn’t read a single spot of frustration on his face. Though he had expected some fund from V.D.C, as they were youth they were not supported a single penny. Not only V.D.C local political leaders were also in against of their campaign, as we all aware about the politics in Nepal.

After a year, I got call from an unknown number; the voice said “Namaste”. It was the same soft and energetic voice. He had decided to go abroad and before leaving Nepal he wanted to meet me. The next day we met at a tea shop. He said “I am going Arab day after tomorrow”. I am confused, is he a same energetic guy? The same entrepreneur who had brought many changes in his village? I was paused for some minutes. I just said; take care, have a safe journey. Please return soon with some skills and knowledge, the country needs you.

The whole night I think about him, why he want to go abroad? What made him so frustrated? The politics? The conservative society? The more expectation from his parents?

Thousands of youth are moving in the same way, what will the effect of this mass migration? Have anybody has taken it in seriously?

After some months, I again went to his village, the library was not there, youth saving group has been already collapsed, and community forest users group was inactive. It was very hard to meet a single guy of age 20.

The village was just waiting “HIS” return for the continuity of the projects he had started and for the transformation of society. Who knows what he is doing in the desert of ARAB? Who knows when he will come back again?

Matrika to reconstitute CPN-Moist

February 11, 2009 by satyakura

Expressing dissent with his ‘former’ party, Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in which he has been the politburo member, Matrika Yadav Wednesday declared in a press meet that he had no relation with the UCPN-Maoist and that he would ‘reconstitute’ the CPN-Maoist.

Yadav, who has been a minister from his former party twice, blamed that UCPN-Maoist leadership had ignored the pledges made during the decade long People’s War.

“As our party has got united with groups and parties which are devoid of revolutionary thought, it has started working in a non-proletarian way, the party has taken a class coordination way, I declare that I have no relation with the UCPN-Maoist and now onwards will work to reconstitute the CPN-Maoist as its central committee members,” he read out a statement.

He blamed the leadership for sidelining the revolutionary activists of the Madheshi origin.

Yadav said that he would talk with other dissidents of the party and reform it to continue with the spirit of the People’s War. He said that he would very soon give up the membership of the Constituent Assembly and start fresh agitation with demands for the rights of the people.

Ghee for dogs they failed to digest !

January 24, 2009 by satyakura

Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai strongly reacted to remarks by UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on Maoist army as irresponsible and termed this as “ghee for dogs they would fail to digest.”

At a press conference in Pokhara Thursday, Nepal had commented that the People’s Liberation Army members deserved to be jailed. Speaking at a local convention of party cadres in Panauti, Dr. Bhattarai said UML was creating hurdles in formation of local bodies. “This has hampered the implementation of the people-oriented budget programmes,” he said, while urging the UML to work together with Maoist party, “because all communists need to be united as a single party of the proletariat.” He argued that UML, which was reduced from its stature as the biggest party before the Constituent Assembly elections, would shrink further if it continued to act irresponsibly.

Dr. Bhattarai alleged Nepali Congress was ignoring the people’s verdict expressed through the CA elections and urged it to respect the mandate and join the government. Stating that it was guns that ended Gyanendra’s reign of guns, he warned of spearheading another revolution if hurdles were created in the way of people’s liberation. CA members and representatives of UML and NC also spoke at the function.

Meanwhile in Butwal, CPN-UML Standing Committee Member and Publicity Department Chief Ishwor Pokhrel said though the UML was in alliance with Maoist at present, his party would protest every wrongdoing of the Maoist. He expressed such views while addressing a regional cadres’ meet in Butwal Saturday. Urging Maoists to give up the misdeeds, leader Pokhrel further said the forthcoming general convention of the party would review its alliance with the Maoist.

He added that his party would adopt a tit for tat policy if the assault on party cadres was not ended. Meanwhile RSS ads that President of Nepal Majdur Kisan Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe Saturday has blamed other communists parties that are in the government were not real communists in their conducts and theory. Speaking in a programme organised by his party to award the prize of district level boys and girls Kabbadi winners, Bijukchhe said his party was in opposition because other communist parties that are in the cabinet are moving forward saving the capitalistic government. In the competition, on boys’ side Bhaktapur Municipality Workers’ Union and Unique Unity team bagged the prize of first and second with Rs 4000 and Rs 2000, Shield, Medal and Certificate respectively. Bayasi Jankala Sadan and Sahid Smirti Bachanalay jointly received the third prize winning Rs 1000. Likewise, on the girls’ side Mt. Everest Higher Secondary School, Nepal Revolutionary Students’ Union second and Bageshwori Higher Secondary School got the first, second and third prize respectively.
